The event
We had a fabulous event celebrating the Vaibhavam of Swami Koorathazhwan at Sri. Seshagiri swami and Smt. Manasa’s Thirumaligai.
The bhagavathas recited the Sri. Sookthis of Swami Koorathazhwan. Everyone was engaged deeply in sambhashanai about Koorathazhwan’s Vaibhavam, which was unending. The bhagavathas and Rockers sang beautifully. Dhanyosmi to Sau. Sarasija, Sau. Sridaya, Sau. Advaita, Smt. Sri Lakshmi, Smt. Manasa, Sri. Madhav swami and Sri. Sunil swami for performing wonderfully today.
Finally, the bhagavathas relished divine and sumptuous prasadam. Dhanyosmi to Sri. Seshagiri swami, Smt. Manasa & their family for organising this memorable event, and to all the bhagavathas who participated.

About Swami Koorathazhwan
Swami Koorathazhwan, also known as Kuresan, was the most devoted disciple of Sri. Ramanuja. Born in the village of Kooram near Kanchi, he gave up a life of wealth to serve his guru and the Sri Vaishnava tradition. His greatest act of sacrifice was when he disguised himself as Sri. Ramanuja to protect him from persecution and lost his eyesight in the process.
Despite being blind, he composed several devotional and philosophical hymns, such as the Sri. Sookthis. Some of the texts in Sri Sookthis of Koorathazhwan includes:
- Sri Vaikuntha Stavam: Praises the supreme abode of Lord Narayana
- Atimanusha Stavam: Describes the extrodinary and divine qualities of Sri. Ramanuja
- Sundarabahu Stavam: Dedicated to Lord Varadaraja of Kanchipuram
- Varadaraja Stavam: Another hymn glorifying Lord Varadaraja
- Sri Stavam: A prayer to Goddess Sri Lakshmi, seeking her grace and compassion
Swami Koorathazhwan’s Sri Sookthis are special because they are full of gratitude, humility, and devotion, reflecting his life of service to Sri. Ramanuja and Lord Narayana.
