About Hayagreevar
Lord Hayagreevar is a unique incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is manifested with the head of a horse on a human’s body, and he symbolises brilliance and profound wisdom. He has four hands, one bestowing knowledge, one holding books of wisdom, and the remaining two holding the Shanku and Chakra.
Though he is not part of the main Dasavatharam of Lord Vishnu, Lord Hayagreevar restored the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of knowledge, after they were stolen by the demons Madhu and Kaitabha during cosmic dissolution. This emphasises the importance of his role in offering divine guidance in the pursuit of both worldly and spiritual wisdom.
Often worshipped by students, scholars, and seekers of knowledge, Lord Hayagreevar is praised as the embodiment of learning, eloquence, and clarity of mind. In Sri Vaishnava tradition, He is honoured as the Guru of Saraswati, guiding all paths of spiritual and scriptural study.

About Thiruvikrama Vishwaroopam
The Thiruvikrama Vishwaroopam is not a distinct avatar of Lord Vishnu but a cosmic form assumed by His fifth incarnation, Vāmana. Vāmana appeared during the reign of Mahabali Chakravarthi, the noble and generous asura king, who was the grandson of Prahlada and great-grandson of Sage Kashyapa.
Mahabali was celebrated for his benevolent rule, under which truth, equality, and prosperity flourished. Having conquered the three realms, Bhuloka (earth), Pathalaloka (underworld), and Swargaloka (heaven), his growing influence caused concern among the devas. Seeking to restore cosmic balance without violence, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Vāmana, a humble Brahmin boy.
During an Ashwamedha Yagna, where Mahabali was granting wishes to all attendees, Vāmana approached and requested just “three steps of land.” The generous king agreed, and at that moment, Vāmana metamorphosed into the massive Thiruvikrama form. His first step, He spanned the entire earth. With His second, He encompassed the heavens. With nowhere left for His third step, Mahabali offered his head in surrender.
Lord Vishnu gently pressed His foot down, sending Mahabali to Pathalaloka, not as punishment, but to restore order. Touched by Mahabali’s humility and devotion, Vishnu made him a Chiranjeevi (immortal) and promised to personally guard his realm. Mahabali is said to return once a year to visit his people, a moment celebrated as Onam in Kerala.
