Doodles and Devotee Diaries

Namo Narayana! I am sharing my divine experience at the Andal Thirukalyanam. This event is hosted at Mukund Swami’s Thirumaligai for three days. The first day is pondugal followed by thirumanjanam the second day, and finally the Andal Thirukalyanam.

I was on the final day — the Andal thirukalyanam. For the past three years, I had been carrying the Thirumalais in a basket from Andal to Rangamanar. This year, I came a little bit later and was afraid that I would miss my chance to carry the thirumalais. However, Emperuman gave me a chance. Like always, the divine presence of Andal and Rangamanar washed over me like the Thirumala waterfalls. I had come to Mukund swami’s Thirumaligai just in time. One of the mami’s called out for me so I could bring the thirumalais.

I stepped out from the crowd into the centre where Andal and Rangamanar were facing each other. One of the swamis handed me a big basket with the thirumalais. I carried the basket over my head from Andal to Rangamanar. With every step I took while carrying the thirumalais, glory towered over me. I was over the moon. I was blessed that I could carry the thirumalais like I always did. I was also thankful that I had come on time so that I could carry the Thirumalais for Andal and Rangamanar.

Later during the event, while one of the swamis was performing homam, he recited the Purusha Suktam. I got excited, this is because I was learning the Purusha Suktam from Madhavakkannan swami. Finally, the day ended like always. Everyone savoured the scrumptious prasadam made by the mami’s. I savoured and enjoyed every bit of the food the mami’s made. The Andal Thirukalyanam was truly a memorable event.
