In this class, we continued the discussion on Chandas, which is the rhythmic structure of verse. It consists of the permutation and combination of the simple lagu and guru making up a multitude of patterns in nature’s poetry. Did you know the first public recording on a gramophone plate featured Max Muller reciting the opening lines of the Rig Veda, “agni meele purohitam”, demonstrating that even in the most ancient times, India had a high level of civilization and had produced universal philosophies in the Vedas.
